……….the sequel. A very good client who went from a jacket to a jacket trousers and waistcoat, kindly sent me pictures of the made up suit in action, and I think it looks fantastic. …the Merchant Tailors Benevolent Association will be known as such, but hopefully not the last time I am surrounded by a bevy of beauties! The picture is from the annual tailors charity event which was held at Merchant Tailors Hall in the City of London. This hall is steeped in history and as ever it was a great night with Chris Hollins a most entertaining guest speaker. He won Strictly Come Dancing a couple of years ago, and although I was tempted to show him a few of my ‘shapes’, on Celia’s advice, I kept them under wraps. This wonderful evening was rounded off by buying a winning raffle ticket, and I am now the proud owner of 3 shirts and 3 ties, which will go with my vast collection.

……….And for the right reasons. A very good client recently tasked me with finding a cloth that he had seen a picture of on the internet. Although I am no Sherlock Holmes ( but he would look great in the suit!),and after disappearing up a number of blind alleys, I finally tracked it down to a very small mill in Scotland. His original request was for a jacket, but he was so pleased with the finished item, that I then made him the trousers and vest to match. I hope you agree that the cloth looks wonderful made up and I cannot wait to see the pictures of the client wearing it. He has already been stopped and complimented on both the cloth and style. Different cloths are for different occasions, but I must say it gave me a good feeling to work with this cloth, and having spoken to the client, it gives him a good feeling when he wears it. I have put a hold on a small quantity of the cloth for a month, just in case any of my other clients would like a suit made up from it.

The weather may be a little wet and cold but as always I am having a great time here in New York, meeting with new and old clients. I am looking forward to going out this evening with friends to The Post House up town for a great New York steak.

Back and ready for the New Year

It was a fantastic holiday but I am now out of my shorts and back into a suit again. From 22nd January I will be in New York to meet with clients and it looks like it is going to be a very busy trip as the diary is quickly filling up. I am hoping to bring my new lounge suit with me and it has a double breasted waistcoat in a grey/blue Glen check. The cloth is from Scabal and I am so pleased with it, and so I should be as it has taken 2 years to make. Even after 2 years it needs the sleeves to sewn in, but I am fairly confident it will make its first appearance in the Big Apple. It never seemed to make the top of the list!!

The finished shorts in action!!

Who would wear bespoke shorts! Well these two linen pairs are for yours truly, I am very much looking forward to my long over due holiday, and I am hoping to see the Sun!

My shorts have been made from pure linen from my friends upstairs at Scabal. I had one pair cut with forward pleats and one with reversed pleats, both with a zip fly and strap and buckles to hold them up. I am really happy with the out come of the shorts I can’t wait to wear them! I will ask my girlfriend Celia to take a photo of me wearing them when I hopefully have a tan, to show of the shorts in all their glory, and finish this post off with a photo of me wearing them, on my return next year.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my friends and clients a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous 2012.

I will return to work on Wednesday the 11^th of January 2012.

I have just this second delivered a suit for one of my client’s to await his arrival at his Hotel here in London and I had a great walk through St James Park. On my way back to the shop I saw the Household caralry!
